Verse

What is a Verse?

A Verse is a collection of metrical lines of poetry. It is used to define the difference of poetry and prose. It contains rhythm and pattern and more often than not, rhyme.

There are three types of Verse - Rhymed, Blank & Free:

Rhymed Verse - the most common and it usually has a metrical form that rhymes throughout.

Blank Verse - is described to have a metrical form but no rhyme.

Free Verse - is described to have no set meter but may or may not be rhymed.

Verses are used in poetry to create different effects. It gives a structure to poetry form.
